Largest Indian Independence Day Program
Walas participate in the largest Indian Independence Day Program in the Southeast United States. More than 5,000 people participated in the 75th Indian Independence Day celebration by Indian Friends of Atlanta held at the Cumming Fairgrounds. Guests of the event and the Walas included the Commissioner of Insurance, General John King; many State Reps, State Senators, candidates for various political office, Sheriffs and Chairs of various political county parties. The celebration was filled with performances representing the various States of India that were performed by local youth. There was plenty of fun, food and festivities. This was a great opportunity for Indian-Americans to celebrate their motherland and treasure their success in their adopted country. Walas are proud to support efforts to bridge the gap between US and India through various such initiatives via the mediums of art, culture, music, food, dance and spirituality.
